Training in training establishments
For most recognized trades, the first 2 years of education take place at school at Vg1 and Vg2. This is followed by Vg3 with a 2-year apprenticeship in a training establishment, where 1 year is training and 1 year is value creation. It usually takes 4 years to acquire a trade or journeyman’s certificate for apprentices, or a certificate of competence for training candidates.
In a few recognized trades there is a Vg3 in school before training is completed with a 1 1/2 or 2 years– apprenticeship in a training establishment. You can find out which trades this applies to under education programmes and education areas.
