Finances - adults

Education or training in a public upper secondary school or a training establishment is free of charge. The county authorities are also responsible for providing adults receiving upper secondary education or training with the necessary printed and digital teaching aids and equipment. More information can be found at Free teaching aids and equipment.

The county authorities can require you to pay a premium for a laptop and have other necessary individual equipment, such as notebooks, calculators, working clothes, etc. Adults are not eligible for equipment grants.

As an adult, you can apply to Lånekassen (the Norwegian State Educational Loan Fund) for other grants and/or loans  to cover living expenses. Please bear in mind that your employer and your labour union can also provide support for upper secondary education and training.
